Taser Director Sells Shares

June 12, 2007
Associated Press

Now, I don't know a lot about buying and selling shares. However, coming on the heels of today's news of Taser shares on the rise (see below) - something tells me that this move is meant to profit someone somewhere. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The person who profits directly is the seller (e.g. the Director). If hew sold 97,000 shares at almost $11.45 apiece, then that Director has realized $1,110,650. That's not all profit. It's not unlikely for Board members to get options to buy stock at attractive rates. The volume (e.g. amount of buying and selling activity on that stock on a given day) was quite high... Usually an announcement of some impending contract (like a big sale of Tasers to the French Police?) will get investors attention, and they'll start buying, driving up the price. This is when those who already bought a whole ago at a lower price may sell off for a profit.
