The Calgary Police Force says it has no plans to pull it's tasers from its officers, even though a provincial investigation has found that 31 of them were operating outside the manufacturers specifications.
Superintendent Trevor Daroux says the level of deviance from the specifications is so small, either higher or lower, that they pose no risk to the police force, or those who would have the device deployed on them.
Daroux adds there will be ongoing testing of the rest of the tasers, using the same program used this time around, and said the police force has accepted the fact that ongoing taser testing may have to come directly out of the services own budget.
The 31 devices that were found to be outside of the manufacturers specifications are under warranty and will be sent back to Taser International to be replaced.
