A man who says he was pummelled by four RCMP officers and hit with a taser more than a dozen times is getting a new trial. Kevin Delong was convicted of assault and willful obstruction of a peace officer after a confrontation with police in May, 2002. Pictures after his arrest show Mr. Delong with two black eyes, a bloodied nose, facial cuts and numerous burn marks from a police taser. Madam Justice Janice Dillon of B.C. Supreme Court has ordered a new trial for Mr. Delong, saying the lower court judge failed to address the conflicting evidence from police and photo evidence of Mr. Delong's beating.
